Questions and answers

What is Specialty Coffee?

Specialty Coffee is a category that includes many mandatory factors:

  • Coffee trees of Arabica variety, growing in high-mountainous ecologically clean corners of the planet (usually not less than 1000 meters above sea level).
  • For the cultivation of coffee only organic fertilizers are used, the harvest is collected manually.
  • Only mature beans are selected, which are then typically processed directly on the farm.
  • On the bags with green beans are specified all data about origin including plantation name. Each bag contains beans of one particular crop only.
  • In the end, the beans are roasted in small batches for a specific order.

Specialty Coffee is not produced on an industrial scale. Every year there is a contest Cup Of Excellence, which selects the best varieties, which were later sold at auction.

Why such low prices?

This is one of the most frequent questions asked by our new customers. As mentioned above, we are promoting the direction of Specialty Coffee in Ukraine, so the margin is small.

In addition, before we have launched our webstore (July 2017), we have been cooperating with various roasters and farms for about a year. We continue to work with them directly without intermediaries and buy coffee in small but regular batches.

Due to this we are able to offer such prices for exclusive premium coffees, that are not much higher than the cost of industrial bulk counterparts.

What is the expiration date of coffee?

After roasting the coffee is packed into vacuum bags with a degassing valve. Thank to this roasted beans are not oxidized, stay fresh and retain flavor and aroma within 12 months.

Some varieties of coffee before packing are rested for about a day, so that carbonic dioxide is released from the beans. Nevertheless, it continues to go from roasted beans even inside the bag. Therefore, in order to obtain the most correct flavor, it is recommended to drink coffee one month after packaging.

The degassing valve works in one direction, allowing to remove carbon dioxide from the bag, without letting in oxygen which is harmful for coffee beans.

How to store coffee properly?

After opening a bags beans can be stored for not more than 3 weeks, ground coffee should be consumed within one week.

It is desirable to store coffee in the original packaging in a place where direct sunlight does not reach, and also where there is not high humidity, at a temperature of 20-25 Celsium degrees.

It is recommended to open and close the bag as little as possible, and also, when closing, to release air as much as possible from the bag.
